Vintage Hand Crocheted Granny Square Afghan 60x70 Jewel Tone Wool Blanket

Stunning vintage hand-crocheted granny square afghan measuring approximately 60” x 70” — a generously sized vintage blanket with beautiful workmanship and an especially striking geometric design. Individual floral-style granny squares are carefully arranged in concentric diamond bands against a rich black background. The thoughtful color placement creates an almost quilt-like effect, with gorgeous shades of deep red, rust, golden yellow, emerald and mint green, dusty pink, lavender, cream, and soft blue-gray. This is an exceptionally well-made example of vintage crochet. The stitching is beautifully consistent, the color arrangement is intentional and wonderfully balanced, and the individual squares create a distinctive stepped/scalloped effect around the perimeter. The yarn appears to be wool or a wool blend and has a substantial, cozy feel. Fiber content is unmarked and therefore cannot be confirmed. Measurements: Approximately 60” x 70” Condition: Excellent vintage condition. This afghan has been gently washed on the gentle cycle and carefully laid flat to dry. It washed beautifully and is fresh and ready to enjoy. No significant flaws noted. At 60” x 70”, this is a wonderful usable size for draping over a sofa or large chair, layering across the foot of a bed, or displaying as a statement vintage textile. Its graphic pattern and rich colors work beautifully with a variety of interiors. Vintage handmade item; exact age, maker, and fiber content unknown.
