【British Antique】Young & Co's Brewery Beer Barrel Wooden Keg

This is a heavy antique wooden barrel from the long-established London brewery Young & Co's London, founded in 1831, featuring an engraved mark.
It's a superb piece with a wonderful combination of heavy wood and iron bands.
Purchased from a shop in the UK, it has been cherished.

This is a wooden barrel (beer barrel) that was used at Young & Co's Brewery.
Judging by the font of the engraving and the way the iron is hammered, it is estimated to be from the early to mid-20th century (around the 1920s to 1950s). Young & Co's was founded in 1831, but barrels with this type of brand name branding seem to have been produced in large numbers during this period for advertising purposes.

= Features =
Beer barrels are made of very hard and dense oak to prevent water leakage, so they are surprisingly heavy for their appearance.

The brewery name and the number 48 are deeply engraved on the side. The number 48 is believed to be the barrel's serial number or an indication of its capacity (e.g., in gallons).

It is a very robust construction, typical of British craftsmanship, with thick wood secured by iron bands, a rare item that evokes the industrial history of Britain.

It can also be used as a planter by placing a plastic saucer inside and displaying houseplants.

[Product Condition]
As this is an antique item estimated to be from around the 1920s to 1950s, there are signs of wood drying, scratches, and rust on the iron parts. However, the bottom is intact, and the condition is good.
It has a beautiful patina of age and exudes a wonderful atmosphere.
