Taisho Era Sewing Box with Side Drawer, Exquisite Bird's Eye Maple Wood, Jidai Tansu Style, Small Item Storage

【Product Description】
A powerful yet delicate Tama-moku (burl wood grain) pattern appears on the front, sides, and top.
The most distinctive feature of this item is the long storage space on the left side, resembling a hidden drawer.
In addition to the five drawers on the front, there is a very rare and practical structure where a long drawer, utilizing the depth, extends from the left side. This showcases the ingenious design of the craftsman of the time, intended for storing long items such as rulers or knitting needles.

【Evidence of Craftsmanship】
On the sides where the drawers are removed and inside the main body, the assembly number (written in Kanji) inscribed by the craftsman during production remains as it was. This indicates that it is not a mass-produced item, but a one-of-a-kind piece of craftsmanship, where each drawer was individually adjusted and fitted to its place. The warmth of handmade work, residing even in these unseen parts, is a significant charm unique to this item.

【Product Condition】
As this is an antique item, there are minor scratches due to age, rust on the metal fittings, and stains that cannot be completely removed. However, there are no major cracks or wobbling, and it is in good, usable condition.
The drawers open and close smoothly. When the top is opened, there is a traditional structure for storing pincushions and small items.
The inside of the drawers is lacquered in vermilion (red), creating a beautiful contrast when opened, making the contents stand out.
While there are signs of age-related dirt, the vermilion lacquer has minimal peeling, and it is maintained in excellent condition for an antique piece.
