Robert McCairns Canadian Folk Art Bird Carving Turkey Point Ontario

There is something wonderfully honest about this old bird. Hand carved by Robert McCairns of Turkey Point, Ontario, a recognized Canadian folk artist known for carving the birds and animals of the Long Point region. Carved from wood with glass eyes, hand-painted finish and simple incised detailing along the wings and tail. The underside retains McCairns’ worn hand signature, “Robert McCairns, Turkey Point, Ont.” The muted brown and grey finish has developed plenty of character over the years, with worn paint, scratches, marks and patina throughout. It has been left exactly as found — wonderfully imperfect and unmistakably handmade. Measures: 16” L × 8” H × 7” W Era: Likely late 1970s–1980s Origin: Turkey Point, Ontario, Canada A beautiful piece of Ontario folk art and Long Point history with a documented maker.
