Description
This is a beautiful Chinoiserie Japanese-style porcelain plate; a vintage blue and white porcelain decorative shallow bowl or charger. It features a stunning, highly detailed cobalt blue transferware design depicting a majestic peacock perched among blossoming peony and tree branches. It is 10” in diameter. The rim is elegantly scalloped and fluted with a classic geometric and floral patterned border. There is gilding around the edge but some is slightly rubbed off. The back of the plate features an underglaze blue handwritten cursive calligraphy kiln mark reading 宣長 (Xuanchang). It comes equipped with a vintage wire spring plate hanger, making it immediately ready for a beautiful wall display.
