Description
This is a 19th-century wood engraving of the Matterhorn. As indicated by the label on the back of the frame, it was purchased at the Capricon Gallery in Zermatt. In addition to the label, the back is handwritten with 19th century old wood engraving. Unfortunately, the print is considerably yellowed overall due to age, and the mat board has stains. The print measures approximately 15 x 11 cm, and the frame measures approximately 25.5 x 19.5 cm.
According to Google AI, this print is highly likely to be a wood engraving from page 347 of Die Schweiz in Bild und Wort (Switzerland in Picture and Word), published in the 1870s-1880s.
