Dogyu [Tsubaki] Woodblock Print, Limited Edition of 180

Tsuchigyu Bud Woodblock Print, Limited Edition of 180

This is a woodblock print titled Bud by the master of Japanese painting, Tsuchigyu Okumura. This is a rare print produced in a limited edition of 180, and it bears the artist's seal in the lower left corner.
Against a gold background, a single peony bud, white and pink, is depicted with a clear and elegant dignity, as if about to open. The soft layering of the petals and the delicate red border beautifully express the freshness and vitality of the bud.

The blue-green leaves spread out dynamically, and the contrast with the gold background brings depth and serene beauty to the composition. The sophisticated color sense characteristic of Tsuchigyu, and the composition that harmonizes decorative and realistic elements, sublimate the traditional beauty of Japanese painting with a modern sensibility, making it a masterpiece.
Although it is a woodblock print, delicate gradations of color and subtle blurring are wonderfully reproduced, expressing the warmth and dignity of woodblock prints without compromise.
The frame is a dark brown wooden frame combined with a thin gold border, creating a calm and elegant impression. The beige mat provides adequate space for the artwork and further enhances the brilliance of the gold background.
This is a gem that we highly recommend to lovers of Japanese paintings and those looking for limited edition prints.
