Features of Hand-Stitched Bogu (Armor)
Hand-stitched bogu, as the name suggests, refers to Kendo equipment meticulously sewn stitch by stitch by artisans.
The stitching method involves using a single thread to create the stitches.
This creates a raised texture, giving the entire futon (padding) flexibility and resilience.
The notation for stitch width, 1 bu, is approximately 3mm. Generally, finer stitches like 1 bu result in a thinner and firmer futon.
On the other hand, the finer stitches give it a substantial and luxurious appearance.
Furthermore, due to the numerous stitches and the skill and time required, hand-stitched bogu is often more expensive.

As this is used protective gear, there may be some fading and dirt from use.
It has been professionally cleaned (by Kensen Obutsu Cleaning) and used 1-2 times since.
The men-futon (padding) has been repaired with dark blue deerskin in some areas (where the men-himo, or cord, rubs), and the tsukidare (throat protector) has also been partially repaired. Overall, the condition is good.
There are marks on the inside of the men-futon where a name tag was removed.

Name tag, men-himo (cord), and chibukuro (leather loops for cord) are not included.

The hokamuri measurement is taken around the chin to the top of the head, passing along the cheekbones in front of the ears, rather than over the ears.
