Himeji Leather Craft - Old Tanabata Card Holder - Vintage Item
I looked into it.
It appears to be a craft item made with Himeji leatherwork.
A tanza-ire (paper strip holder).
It is a very old item.
It is decorated with a pine-like pattern.
Size: 10 x 41 x 5 cm.
It has been around for a long time and was used to store precious paper strips.
This container is also very lovely.
There are some scuffs and peeling visible on the lid.
(See images 12 and 13)
The craftsmanship is a bit unusual.
The inside appears to be lacquered.
The lid is made of leather, with a pine pattern crafted in gold on top.
Since tanza-ire are not common nowadays, I believe this is a rare item.
Even if not used as a tanza-ire,
how about using it as a container for other precious items?
Please examine the images, make your judgment,
and I would be grateful if you would make a purchase.
