Description
This is a stunning early 20th-century Bohemian art glass vase, circa 1910-1920. Crafted in a rich emerald green glass, the piece features hand-painted raised gold gilt scrollwork and is accented with heat-applied ruby red glass cabochons around the body. Maker: Bohemian / Czech (Unsigned). Likely a high-end workshop such as Josephinenhütte or Egermann, both of which utilized the Raised Gold and Jewel technique. Timeframe: 1910–1920. The 4-inch opening and squat, bulbous body are quintessential for the late Art Nouveau to early Art Deco transition. Technique: Hand-blown green glass, 22K-24K gold Schmelz enamel, and heat-applied glass cabochons. It is very difficult to photograph, so I tried to give you lots of angles and different lighting conditions to see it. Dimensions: Height: 8 inches Width: about 8 inches Opening: 4 inches Condition: Excellent antique condition. NO chips, cracks, or repairs. The interior glass is clear with no water marks or cloudiness. All red glass jewels are intact. There is age-appropriate wear and rubbing to the gold gilding, primarily on the horizontal bands and high points of the floral design. The base is ground and polished smooth. A beautiful, high-quality example of Czech craftsmanship.
