A simple hot spring inn converted from a former fishing net warehouse. Located on the hillside, it offers panoramic views of the mountains and the sea. 8 minutes on foot from Otaru-Chikko Station, 5 km from Otaru Canal.
Spring in the North Dawns with Herring, it was said, and the entire west coast of Hokkaido prospered greatly with the herring fishery from the Edo period through the Meiji, Taisho, and early Showa eras. Major fishing magnates from various regions who challenged the waves of the North Sea built magnificent residences as if to boast of their prestige. During the height of that prosperity, in 1900 (Meiji 33), the private residence built by Yasunojo Inomata, a major fishing magnate of Yoichi, became the origin of Ginrinsou. For approximately 120 years since then, Ginrinsou has conveyed the history of the glory that unfolded in the northern seas, as one of the few remaining herring palaces and a rare accommodation facility in a herring palace.
