★ Product Information ★

[Description]
The Oni no Kannenbustu (Demon Chanting Buddhist Prayers in the Cold) from Otsu-e is a representative motif of folk art that has been painted in the Otsu City area of Shiga Prefecture since the Edo period.
It depicts a demon dressed in monk's robes, with a gong hanging from its neck, holding a clapper and a ledger in its hands, walking while chanting Buddhist prayers in the cold.
It comes with a special black bamboo case and is a truly wonderful piece as a work of art and craft.

Kozuka are one type of sword fitting, used for carving wood or as an emergency weapon.
They are the equivalent of a utility knife or paper knife today.
From the Edo period onwards, they came to be regarded as decorative items to enhance the appearance of the sword's mounting (koshirae).
In addition to their value as daily necessities, kozuka are also highly regarded as works of art and craft due to the exquisite craftsmanship of the metalworkers who adorned them.

As these are not real swords, no registration or notification is required.
The small knife of the kozuka is classified as a sword fitting, and because its blade length is short, a Firearms and Swords Registration Certificate is not necessary.
